DRY NEEDLING

Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates is now offering Dry Needling services performed by our licensed Physical Therapist, Kelly Rohde, PT, DPT.

What is it?

  • Dry needling involves the insertion of a thin filiform needle through the skin to treat myofascial trigger points, muscle, connective tissue, and bone.

What does it do?

  • Reduces pain

  • Improves function

  • Improves circulation

  • Improves muscle activation patterns

  • Stimulates the nervous system to redirect its attention to a specific area in order to encourage the body to heal itself

Does it hurt?

  • The patient may feel a sting when the needle is inserted or turned. The sting should not last more than 10 seconds. If the muscle tissue is tight, the patient may feel tightness, soreness, or pressure during the treatment. Kelly can adjust the needle at any point if the patient is feeling uncomfortable.
