The medical providers at Fort Bend Rheumatology Associates have compiled a list of answers to their most asked questions regarding COVID-19. 

Please see if we have answered your question below before calling the office.

Fort Bend Rheumatology will be updating this information periodically with recommendations from the CDC & the American College of Rheumatology.

CAN I GET THE COVID VACCINE AT YOUR CLINIC?

Yes, Fort Bend Rheumatology is currently offering the Pfizer vaccine and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine daily. Moderna is offered every Friday.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COVID VACCINES?

The Pfizer vaccine is approved for ages 12 & up and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine along with the Moderna is ONLY for ages 18 & up.

HOW LONG IS THE COVID VACCINE EFFECTIVE FOR?

Per the CDC, the vaccine starts to lose its efficacy after 8 months. This data may change as new information becomes available.

 

AM I ELLIGIBLE TO RECEIVE A BOOSTER?

Per CDC guidelines, everyone ages 18 and older can get a booster shot.

CAN I GET THE COVID BOOSTER AT YOUR CLINIC?

Yes, we are currently offering the booster for the Pfizer and J&J vaccine daily.

The Moderna vaccine is available every Friday. 

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME IF I WANT A BOOSTER?

To receive the COVID booster at our office, you must bring your vaccination card with you. Those without proof of their prior vaccine administration dates will be turned away. 

I RECEIVED THE PFIZER VACCINE. WHICH BOOSTER CAN I GET?

Per the CDC, if you received the the Pfizer vaccine you can be boosted with any Covid19 vaccine authorized in the United States at least 6 months after completing your primary series.

I RECEIVED THE MODERNA VACCINE. WHICH BOOSTER CAN I GET?

Per the CDC, if you received the Moderna vaccine you can be boosted with any Covid19 vaccine authorized in the United States at least 6 months after completing your primary series.

I RECEIVED THE JOHNSON & JOHNSON VACCINE. WHICH BOOSTER CAN I GET?

Per the CDC, if you received the the J&J vaccine, you can be boosted with any Covid19 vaccine authorized in the United States at least 2 months after your initial shot.

DO I NEED TO CHECK MY SPIKE PROTEIN BEFORE RECEIVING THE BOOSTER?

No, you are NOT required to check your spike protein levels before receiving the booster. We are currently not recommending checking spike protein levels to decide whether or not a booster is required.

DO I NEED TO HOLD ALL OTHER MEDICATIONS?

Hold medications for the booster vaccine as was directed for the 2nd dose. The American College of Rheumatology has specific guidelines here. If you have any further questions, please contact your healthcare provider. 

CAN I GET A FLU SHOT WITH MY COVID BOOSTER?

Yes, you can get both a COVID booster as well as a Flu vaccine. However, we recommend spacing them two weeks apart.
